Creative Writing ...

When I was in grade school my two favorite subjects where english, and art.  It's not surprising that my life if filled with creative endeavors in the fashion and beauty world.  Not to mentioned, I have been writing quite a lot lately, like my beauty blog, my web newsletters, plus I am now the official beauty writer for a dynamic organization called Powerful Women International.  Women all over the world will read my advice on fashion and beauty.  Wow! What an interesting take.  I've always wanted to be part of an online women's magazine so this is right up my alley.  Lot's of work but a great prelude to my DVD's for Yvette Ervin Beauty and my book scheduled for later this year.  What's next, TV, Radio, and Key Note appearances.  YEAAAH!!!

Everything Creative

I just realized something..on my website profile it says "Yvette Ervin is all things beauty."  the truth is, I am all things creative (which definitely includes the aforementioned) but has so many more layers.  I have loved creating things since I was a small child. Whether in the kitchen cookin up some goodies to the delight of my brothers or making cool outfits, candles, crochet or whatever I could get my hands on.  I loved it!

It's not a surprise that this has evolved into bigger arenas.  I still love to cook but now I'm a bit more fussy, (gotta be organic or as green as possible). I'm a lot more conscious and worldly about my cooking.  When it comes to fashion, I can safely say, I have found my own personal style and I help others find theirs in my business. Love making things like jewelry from semi-precious stones and even had my own line of natural body care products for several years. 

I do these things because they soothe my soul.  My mind just seems to wander and I feel at peace.  Did I mention I like to write?  Actually, I found this passion all over again.  In school, my favorite classes where art and english so it's no surprise.  I'm getting a lot of time in with my blog makeupdiaries.com, and other articles I write.  I am working on a global beauty and lifestyle book so stay tuned.  I'll post photos in the future!!  

Slow Down a Little

Hey Folks!  I have been so busy doing this, working on that.  I just realized this is really no fun.  I mean, in all this I forgot how to have fun. I think they call it work life balance.  What do I like to do for fun?  Well, I used to like to play golf, cook for friends, all things creative, browse thru flea markets, bookstores,meet interesting men, talk trash, good conversation, being around small children, having a good laugh...gotta start having more fun.  I'm such a go getter.  Too serious!  

The day after....

Finally after all the work and the hype for my video, it's the day after.  I think it will all be OK.  I learned so much from this experience.  Most of all, I will never shoot a video at my house.  I had all kinds of people in my house!  Anyway you live and you learn.  I think I have been bitten by the film/video bug for sure.  I'm planning to invest in some production equipment in the future.  

This entire event is just a prelude to what happens in the future.  Yeah!! I did it.

Show Time!!!

I have 2 hours before the crew starts arriving for the shoot today.  The one thing I have learned about sets, shoots, (whatever), you have remain calm no matter what happens.  Murphy's Law will be alive and well, you can count on that.  I have a really cool crew today to help me shoot so I'm confidant all will be fine.  Super happy that Walter, my lighting technician will me here.  He is like my Mentor in the world of video/film at the moment---because he knows a little more than I do.  I can't believe he is 72!  

I even catered the event.  You go girl!!  It was a lot of fun doing that part.  Ok. Gotta run and get ready.  Just because I am the producer and director doesn't mean I can't look cute doing it!

A day in the life of Yvette Ervin

There is certainly something about me that's thrive's on challenge and new ventures.  I always seem to be doing this and doing that.  When I was a kid, my family would always say"what is she doing now!"  I know ....  anyway, today I'm doing the prep work for a video I am shooting for YEB.

I am the producer and director plus I wrote the script.    You go girl!!!  It's crazy but somehow I am loving it.  It's like stepping out and expanding my life.  Especially because I'm so used being in front of the camera's for so many years.  Got a million things on my To Do List today so let me go and do them!  I'll let you know how I am doing
